Hello and welcome! This blog will provide information and examples on automated software testing solutions. Primarily the focus will be on creating custom hand-crafted solutions using .NET rather than how to use off-the-shelf tools. Although, I may provide code examples of frameworks I have developed in the past for tools like Mercury QTP, Rational Robot etc. Initially my posts may be quite focussed on UI automation (UIA), an accessibility framework for Microsoft Windows, as that is what I am currently working with. I have started recording a video series on various aspects of UIA and so will begin uploading that soon. A mid to long term project that will be documented is the development of a fully functioning test automation tool developed in .NET Framework 3.5+ that you may want to follow. All code will be provided along with video tutorials. This tool should work on any 3rd party application and so UIA may not be enough on it's own. We may have to fall back on MSAA support along with some useful Win32 API methods. The idea is that by providing concrete examples and links to other good stuff that I have found, anybody new to UIA or custom test automation development may get up and running a little quicker. Hopefully techniques presented here will be helpful and also invite healthy discussion. Shawn Barrett
